Born circa 1970, Susan is the daughter of Ningura Napurrula, one of the great female artists of the central desert art movement which commenced at Papunya in the early 1970’s. The Kintore area is rich in the tradition of the dreamings which are depicted as part of the ceremonial process. As part of her education, where ceremonial practice is passed from one generation to the next, Susan has learned to paint. Susan is considered an artist who is still learning and developing.
Susan primarily paints women’s ceremonial stories and depictions of sacred sites and in this painting, she has depicted the sandhills associated in the desert west of Kintore. Susan's paintings represent a geographic map of the country where the artist has traveled with her family.
